Happy New Year! Welcome 2024.

We hope you got through the festive period relatively unscathed. We did, and are delighted that ‘Like Minded People" has been released onto an unsuspecting world!  We posted the song on Bandcamp on 28 December and are pleased by early positive feedback.

“I like it!  I get a Talking Heads meets Phish meets Paul McCartney vibe." (Jake M from Boston)

“Good songwriting and a driving rhythm - I kinda wanted to start a mosh pit for this one. The heavy metal/punk guy in me wants even heavier guitars. Great drums!” (Scott A from Hartford CT)

Great drums indeed. It gives me (Tim that is ) so much pleasure to recall recording with ‘Bashing‘ Ben Swan at his studio in Brockley, South London.  “You really want me to play that crazily?” enquired our trusty stick master after I played him the demo and described how we wanted the final track to sound.

“Yes!" I replied. "I want you to imagine you are the drummer in an 80s hair and spandex band!”  He smiled.  He paused for a brief moment and closed his eyes.  “You mean like this?” he replied.  An enormous, deafening drum fill followed.  I picked myself up off the floor. “Yes, Ben, that is exactly what we want!”

Give “Like Minded People” a listen and you, too, can marvel at the power of the purveyor of percussive pugilism as well as the boys in Ditch The MuuMuu. For full effect, “Turn up the music to the maximum!”

As we kick off 2024, we are in a reflective mood, busily going through old recordings and lyric fragments accumulated over the years. Do we have the nub of a hit already in the archives?  The simple answer is: we don't yet know!

While Eric and I have been making music off and on for 40+ years, future MuuMuu songs will likely rely on contemporary forms of inspiration…  Eric’s new house for example (there is a major renovation underway in the suburbs of Boston).  Might that project inspire the next “Our House” or “House of the Rising Sun” or Eartha Kitt’s classic “C’mon a My House“ or a MuuMuu favourite, Hendrix’s “ Red House”.  Will another Barron family trip to the Caribbean island of Nevis again prove inspirational?  It was the home of Alexander Hamilton but also the birth place of last year's MuuMuu classic ‘Hiding History’ (not to mention Scary spices ’grandmother!).

What you can be assured of is this: content for “The Difficult 2nd Album” is being contemplated even as I write this missive. Will inspiration strike tomorrow?  Could be. Who knows?  We will know, right away, soon as it shows…         Wait a minute. I wonder if anybody has used those lyrics before?
