Ditch The MuuMuu was "born" in April 2020. But our roots go back a long way.
Eric Luskin met Tim Barron at The University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, in the fall of 1975. Eric was a 3rd year exchange student from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) majoring in English, and Tim was a first year from Bournemouth (UK) majoring in Environmental Studies.
As luck would have it, we found ourselves living in the same dorm, a multi story concrete campus housing block called Waveny Terrace.
We were drawn together by a love of music. Our first recalled encounter was in a local pub where, for some reason that can not now be determined, we argued about the merits of guitarist Joe Walsh. Soon after, we met up at late night jam sessions with a cadre of international students. These song fests became the stuff of legend.
The Uni year came and went. The gang all went our separate ways. But we stayed in touch.
Here's the Cliff's Notes version. We lived our lives, launching careers and starting families. Tim embarked on a life of music and theater in the UK. Eric worked in the Public Television world (PBS) in the USA. The friendship forged in halcyon days in Norwich endured.
When the Pandemic hit, and we each had some time on our hands, the light bulb went on. Luck again intervened; we each had access to at-home recording technology. Maybe... just maybe... we could try writing and recording. Just for fun. Just for ourselves. "Strange Things" was our first co-write. Then we penned "The Hills of Worcester". One song led to another, each taking a slightly different sonic and lyrical turn.
Fast forward to January 2022. We have 10 completed tracks with more on the way. We've gotten encouragement from friends, family and fellow musicians. Emboldened, we launched a Bandcamp site. And now, we have this website. With a blog. A blog??
What will the future hold? That, dear reader(s) is up to you! Join us on our MuuMuu journey and we'll keep you posted.
Eric
