We, like many of you, have been watching the terrifying events in Ukraine unfold. In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we have re-worked the ending of the "Flag" video which is on this very website now. The song continues to take on meanings that we never really contemplated when we wrote it - and it wasn't written that long ago...
This just in: "Ok that's it !" I sent my files for "Things I Have Seen" to Eric after much blood, sweat & tears. I recorded 6 tracks, including tambourine, and waved them off with a digital "Over to you my friend!". His task now is to glue the whole thing together & create the magic which will be the twelfth & final Ditch the Muu Muu track on our debut CD.
Many things excite me about this tune. Firstly, it is an ode to a car, and cars are things very close to my heart (however 1936 Ford 2 doors are out of my immediate knowledge).
Secondly, this song has allowed me to expand my 'period ' recording palette, include dusting off my 1973 Fender Telecaster to allow me get down some authentic slide guitar (Yes, it does sound a bit like the Warner Bros "Thats all Folks!" sound track but I think that adds to the authentic "Mise en Scene"). You may wonder "was he channeling his inner Andrews Sisters when recording those close harmony backing vocals?" The answer is "Yes!" There is also a tribute to Clarence "Frogman" Henry with the basso profundo end of the middle 8 rundowns.
So... it's just the art work & the sleeve notes & the spelling mistakes to iron out, plus the printing, etc and the .......& the ............. until we are in the shops .How exciting!
I hope you have enjoyed the journey as much as I have.
