Hey friends. As I write this (June 17th) I am struck by how fast the days go by. It seems like only yesterday that we released “Sunshine” (in May) and “Like Minded People” (in December) - both on Bandcamp. How is that possible?
As far as new MuuMuu material, Tim and I had a long Whatsapp chat yesterday, talking about all manner of ideas.
Part of our co-writing process involves sending rough soundscapes to one another via demo files; those that (pardon the expression) strike a chord then get developed lyrically and musically. In the past month or so, I've sent a few tunes Tim's way. One - with the working title “Shuffle Thing” - ticked the “lets work on this first!” box. And so work on it we shall. Watch this space.
You may be wondering: what happens to orphaned tunes that are determined to not be a MuuMuu fit? Those, my friends, get developed into music that can be used for sync placements - the kind of background songs that are found in TV shows, commercials, films, video games, etc. Since the start of the calendar year, I've been working on getting MuuMuu songs, as well as other material that I've written and recorded over the years, into formats that can work for sync. That is a slow and meticulous process - very different from recording pop/rock music that is performed live or recorded for CDs and/or general music streaming. How's it going? Still early days but hopefully it will bear fruit in the long run. In the meantime, it's a learning process.
Tim joins me in wishing you a great month and a delightful summer season. If you haven't already done so, check out the most recent releases here: www.ditchthemuumuu.bandcamp.com
