… several months have now been torn off the calendar! No matter what the season, time has a way of getting away from us. And it's happened again!
As October draws toward its end, I marvel at the number of days that pass between my “I must update the blog” thought and my actually doing so. We strive for a monthly update. But sometimes that interval gets stretched out a bit. Apparently. Our last post was in August. Yikes!
Still, I am agape at the people we're able to reach - literally around the world - with our ongoing musical project. Despite no new “content” these past few months, we've had visitors to the website from folks in Istanbul Turkey, Montreal Canada, Nuremberg, Germany, and Warsaw Poland. Here in the States we've seen folks from Charlottesville Virginia, Columbus Ohio, Corona California, Four Oaks North Carolina, Harleysville and Philadelphia Pennsylvania, as well as Needham and Hingham Massachusetts. We are indeed conquering the world 2 ears at a time!
So what has been going on with Ditch The MuuMuu? The good news is that we have a new song that we'll be releasing on Bandcamp in a few weeks time. It's a tune that I started here in Boston that was subsequently developed by Tim. It's now a song called “Fractured Feelings”.
It's taken a while to get to the current mix which, in truth, I am still tinkering with behind the scenes. More on that later. In the interest of moving forward (our last release was “Sunshine” back in May, 2024), we'll post the current incarnation and see what sort of reaction it gets. It's been an eventful summer for both of us and “Fractured Feelings” taps into that zeitgeist.
Meanwhile, there are two other songs that are awaiting our MuuMuu development process. While we're eager to proceed, Mancave Studio (my home recording space in the Boston suburbs) has been under extended renovation and isn't quite ready for action. And our temporary facility (Fluffy Bunny Studio) is on the cusp of being dismantled in preparation for the move back. While there is still work that Tim and I can do over the next 4-6 weeks, our “normal” work flow is now hindered by what Rolls Royce calls “a failure to proceed.” No problem - we're quate adept at maneuvering bumpy roads!
Thus I have been obsessing over “Fractured Feelings” - using the down time to tinker with alternate mixes/versions and trying to incorporate feedback from friends and colleagues. Is any one version definitively better than another? It is hard to say! Your comments on the Bandcamp release will truly be appreciated.
Onward!
Eric
