News!

Well, Tim and I have been bad bloggers, haven‘t we!   As we near the middle of July, we realize that neither of us has gotten it together to update y’all on our activities.  Let me remedy that now.

Our new single, “Blown Away”, drops on Bandcamp this Friday, July 21st.  The song was actually written a year ago during the height of the 2022 drought in the New England area.  The idea came to me while I was on a walk in a wonderful wooded area where clearly distressed trees were steadily dropping leaves drastically ahead of season.  I quickly sketched out some lyrics and a rough melody and sent it off to Tim. We went back and forth on the demo, trying to figure out the right arrangement, tinkering with the words, and adjusting the instrumentation.  Before we knew it, the summer had passed and the “urgency” for such a “season specific” song seemed to ebb. So, it went into what Robert Plant calls “the maybe later bag”, and was resurrected in early June.  With fresh ears and some distance from the original, we did a re-mix and revised the video.   Hopefully it will find its way into your heart.  You can find “Blown Away” on our Bandcamp page and the video on our YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, work continues apace on “A Slow Song” which I mentioned in our last posting.  It is aptly named ‘cause… as you can tell, dear readers, it ain’t coming together fast!  Securing the right saxophonist for this particular track-in-process took a while.  Tim finally managed to bring his remote recording gear from London to Salisbury for a recording session with a multi-instrumentalist with whom he shared many a West End performance of “Return To The Forbidden Planet” back in the day.  Yes, friends, the mighty Kate Edgar is now a guest MuuMuu musician.  I can’t wait to get the files and start mixing.

Last but not least, we have an as yet unreleased track that is making the rounds with a few music publishers in Nashville for potential TV or film placement.  Because these things are often “hurry up and wait” – and then encounter added unforeseen twists and turns - we’ll just dangle this positive news out there for the time being.  As songwriters, we’re thrilled that a few folks in that community are starting to take notice of our work.
