Random thoughts from Tresco Road Studios

Last Sunday I was well into the recording process when I was distracted by thoughts of the Joy of Chinese New year and all of those happy bunnies. In a moment of madness, I didn’t fully mute my vocal microphone whilst taking a well earned break from recording.  The song is ‘Hiding History", a driving funkster tune; the latest creation from Ditch the MuuMuu which will soon be released on Bandcamp.

……and so it was that I found that I was celebrating the onset of the year of rabbit by inadvertently recording myself going to the loo.   Whilst I suppose I could have tested Eric's studio mixing ears by sending him the track (can you call it a "take" when it is in fact a "give"), I decided to lock it in the vault for the DTM archivist to puzzle over in years hence.  But I digress...

If you have been paying attention to previous blogs, you will know that Tresco Road Studios has had a technical upgrade viz-a-viz a new microphone (Mike to his friends).  The bad news is, it’s sensitive enough to record any audible stuff happening in the room next to the studio. The old audio gear had the greatest difficulty recording its own hum, but this little beauty will pick up a bee scratching its knee at 30 paces.  Let "mute yourself" be a lesson to us all.

R.I.P. Jeff Beck. You were the best.
